    The Kanchenjunga North Base Camp Trek in Eastern Nepal is a stunning and lesser-known trekking route.The trek offers a true wilderness experience while still providing access to tea houses along the way.The Kanchenjunga North Base Camp Trek is part of the protected Kanchenjunga Conservation Area, and offers a trekking route that traverses through different climatic zones.

    Starting from the sub-tropical lowlands, the route ascends through lush rhododendron forests, alpine forests, and finally opens up to glaciers.We walk for days amidst glaciers and high alpine pastures.The trek culminates at Pang Pema(5140 m) revealing the north face of the third highest mountain in the world– Kanchenjunga(8,586 meters/28,169 feet).

    As we hike through the Kanchenjunga North Base Camp Trek, we are treated to stunning views of Mount Kanchenjunga, Janu Himal, and several other peaks that border Tibet and Sikkim. The trek takes us through wide valleys, narrow gorges, and across rushing rivers, adding to the overall spectacular experience.

    The trek is strenuous and demands endurance as well as a high level of fitness. Wildlife enthusiasts may be lucky enough to spot rare mammals such as the elusive snow leopard, asian black bear, and red panda, among others. Bird lovers may also have the opportunity to spot species such as the snow cock, blood pheasant, golden breasted fulvetta, and many more.

    Apart from the breathtaking scenery and wildlife, the Kanchenjunga North Base Camp Trek also provides a fascinating insight into the unique traditions, culture, and way of life of the Limbu and Rai communities of Eastern Nepal.
