Discover the natural wonders of the Khumbu region on an epic trek to Everest Base Camp via Gokyo Lakes. This challenging yet rewarding journey takes you through stunning alpine scenery, past towering mountains, and into the heart of Sherpa culture. Along the way, you'll have the chance to explore the serene Gokyo Lakes, capture panoramic mountain views from Gokyo-Ri,conquer challenging Cho La Pass, and behold the dramatic Khumbu Icefall.Eventually, standing on the foot of the highest mountain in the world- The Everest, would be a triumph.

The  trail to Everest Base Camp via Gokyo diverges from the classic route to Everest Base Camp. The panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Pumori, Cho Oyo, and Makalu from Gokyo Ri are nothing short of breathtaking. If you have ever imagined a picture of heaven, then pristine beauty of Gokyo Lakes and the serenity posed by snow-clad mountains sorrounding the lakes should come preety close to what you've imagined.

Our adventure starts in Lukla, nestled in the mountains. We follow in the footsteps of Sherpa traders and yak herders along the path to Namche Bazaar.

As we acclimatize, the Everest region reveals itself gradually.

From Namche Bazaar, we diverge from the main trail northwards  from Sanasa towards the sacred Gokyo Lakes. We walk through rhododendron and pine forests that give way to the village of Dole, bathed in the glow of iconic peaks like Ama Dablam and Khumbhila.

After spending the night in Dole, the trip carries on to Machhermo, providing smooth trails and breathtaking view of the magnificent Mt. Cho Oyu standing 8,188 meters tall.

After resting in Machhermo, we arrive at the emerald shores of the Gokyo Lakes. The six languid pools that sorrounds Gokyo is sacred to both Hindu and Buddhist.

An early climb to Gokyo Ri rewards us with panoramic views of Makalu, Lhotse,Cho Oyu,Cholatse,Taboche and mighty Everest - the mountain that beckons us deeper.  To catch the best views, it's recommended to reach Gokyo Ri early in the morning to witness the dawn unfold.

We spend an extra day acclimatizing in the serene Gokyo Valley, absorbing its vast natural beauty. Majestic Cho Oyu stands sentinel over azure lakes and snow-capped peaks  as far as the eye can see.

We'll trek towards Thangnak along a rocky path with ups and downs, traversing the Ngozumpa Glacier and passing through yak pastures. After reaching Thangnak, we'll spend the night.

The following morning,  we'll set off towards the challenging Cho La Pass, which connects the Gokyo region with the Everest Base Camp route. Walking on the glacier is part of this trail, and after reaching Cho La Pass, the path to Dzongla descends, making it a relatively easier segment.

The trek from Dzongla to Lobuche marks the day's destination and rejoins the main Everest Base Camp route, accompanied by the Khumbu Glacier. As we navigate the undulating trails, we'll come across a memorial dedicated to those who lost their lives in this harsh terrain.

The next day is a special milestone as we reach Everest Base Camp. The trek from Lobuche to Gorak Shep takes us through the Khumbu Glacier's lateral moraine. After leaving our belongings at a lodge in Gorak Shep, we'll climb to Everest Base Camp, offering a close encounter with the world's highest peak, Mt. Everest.

Reaching Everest Base Camp is a remarkable achievement that requires physical and mental strength. The experience gained during the journey can be transformative, instilling determination and ambition.

After spending precious moments at Everest Base Camp, we'll descend to Gorak Shep for the night. The following morning, an early wake-up call at Gorak Shep will take us to the Kala Patthar viewpoint to witness the early morning sunlight illuminating Mt. Everest and the surrounding Himalayan peaks. The surreal scenery offers a perfect opportunity to capture memorable photographs.

After descending from Kala Patthar, we'll have breakfast in Gorak Shep before continuing towards Pheriche. As the path gradually descends, the trek becomes easier and lasts about five hours. We'll spend the night in Pheriche.

The following day, we'll trek from Pheriche to Namche Bazaar. Although at a lower elevation, the trail includes several ups and downs, providing a unique challenge. This day offers the last views of Mt. Everest as we bid farewell to the Khumbu region and spend the night in Namche Bazaar.

The following day, we'll hike from Namche Bazaar to Lukla, crossing suspension bridges and lush forests along the Dudh Koshi River Valley. We'll spend the night in Lukla, likely marking our final night in the Khumbu region.

If all goes according to plan, on the fifteenth day, after breakfast, we'll board a plane from Lukla to Kathmandu or from Lukla to Ramechap and drive back to Kathmandu.

It's highly recommended to allocate 2 to 3 extra days as flights from Lukla can be unpredictable due to weather conditions.
