  • Trek Overview

Everest Base Camp trek is a life time adventure and every mountain lover’s fantasy is to be in the mystical realm surrounding the foothills of world's highest mountain (8848.86m). When it comes to spectacular mountain panoramas, the Everest Base Camp is without equal. The trek to Mount Everest is possibly the most popular high-altitude treks in the world for those with less experience with high altitude mountaineering as it is a well-maintained trail with plentiful lodges and colorful and hospitable Sherpa People.

We fly to Lukla, trek through the Himalayan terrain of Khumbu to a height of 5545 meters. We strive everyday on our trek to push our limits, elevate to our highest points. The sense of achievement at the end of the trek is quite profound.

The mesmerizing view from Kala Pattar will surely make your day and fill the heart with a bountiful adventure. The highest mountains of the world such as Makalu, Lhotse, Nuptse, Lobuche as well as the all-mighty Everest will be at our behest.

This 14-day trek offers you the most spectacular views of gushing river, streams, gigantic glaciers, snow-clad mountain peaks that rise above the clouds.

We climb through whimsical villages, monasteries, suspension bridges and ancient rivers. As we trek through the hills, mixed deciduous forests and scattered rice terraces give way to pine forest, then rhododendrons, then scrub junipers, before finally the only vegetation is low alpine shrubs and grasses. Finally, we reach the feet of majestic Everest, where else can you expect such dramatic diversity?

The Everest trek is a non-technical trek. However, it is still a difficult trek with long hours of walking, with some tough stretches and dizzying altitudes. Our experienced and knowledgeavle guides will assist on your journey to make it safe. Your safety and well-being is our primary focus

Get ready to make new friends, learn new culture, support the local economy, and elevate your hidden strength and create a memory of a lifetime.

    Trek Itinerary

Our adventure begins in Kathmandu with your arrival at Vastu Boutique Hotel.  (Check in: 2 pm).  Your first night will include meeting with your fellow adventures and enjoying the hospitality of our staff.  Situated in the lovely area of Thamel community in Kathmandu it is known by its narrow alleys crowded with various shops and vendors. Popular points of interest near Vastu Boutique Hotel include Hanuman Dhoka, Kathmandu Durbar Square and Garden of Dreams. The nearest airport is Tribhuvan International, 3.1 miles from the accommodation, and airport shuttle service is provided.

We fly to Lukla’s Tenzing Hillary Airport from Kathmandu (35 min flight). *Note: During the peak trekking seasons (March, April, May, October, November) a high volume of flights to and from Lukla has led to congestion and delays at the Kathmandu airport. To tackle this issue the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal operates flights to Lukla from Manthali Airport (132km from Kathmandu).  As a result of this change, we need to drive 4 to 5 hours to Ramechap and fly to Lukla (20 min). Our company will make the necessary arrangement for transport during the night to catch the early flight from Manthali.

Lukla to Phakding:  It is a gentle first day trek from Phakding.  Leaving the north end of Lukla, the trail drops steeply at first.  You will pass Cheplung Village and continue north and will catch your first view of the roaring Dudh Koshi River. The trail descends further through a forest and then a short climb around the ridge comes to the small village of Ghat. We continue on to reach Phakding.

Note: We can arrange helicopter flight to Lukla which will cost $400 USD per

person for 5 pax.  Pre-information is required to book the helicopter in order to

fulfill the total pax and ensure the flight.  It is difficult to find seats for the

    Helicopter flights during peak season.

The trail takes us first over Dudh Koshi River via a long suspension bridge. Continuing up through the forest of pines, rhododendron, magnolia, and fir, our first glimpse of Thamserku (6608m) above Toktok village is our reward before we reach Monjo. Just above Monjo is the entrance checkpoint for the Sagarmatha National Park where we pause for a brief permit check.  We descend to Dudh Koshi River to Jorsale and from here, we follow the long zigzagging ascent to Namche, most attractive settlement in the Khumbu, offering the first glimpse of Everest and its grandeur.

The steep climb from Phakding can lead to altitude sickness and other severe illness, so it is essential to stay at least one extra night to adjust to the altitude. We utilize our day by hiking to Hotel Everest View (3880m), an excellent acclimatization choice as the hotel is situated on highest altitude of any on our planet. We can visit the Sherpa Cultural Museum and set our hike to Syanboche Airport which holds the dignity of the airport located on highest altitude on earth.  We can see a lot of travelers coming from a Helicopter ride savoring the stunning view of Everest, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Thamseuku, and others from here.

We also you use your spare time to explore Namche Bazar. It is a proper mountain village with beautiful cobbled streets and is the main trading center in the Everest region run by Sherpa people. It is jampacked with trekkers like you who are aiming for basecamp and other trekkers returning from basecamp or expedition with their exciting stories. It is the best option to buy trekking equipment, books, and choco-bars if needed on your trek. There are numerous cafes and comfortable lodges here.

The rocky trail descends at first and ascends to Tengboche via Phungi Thanga. You can savor the picturesque view of Tham Serku, Ama Dablam, Lhotse ad Everest. The stunning view of lush rhododendron forest, glacier, river, and monasteries along the trek is rewarding.                                                                                                                                                                           After reaching Tengboche, we visit the focal point-Tengboche monastery, either in the evening or morning to witness Lamas performing prayer ceremony.

Our trail follows through forests of dwarf conifers and rhododendron trees, keeping an eye out for Monal pheasants and musk deer. We walk downhill to Debuche and cross the Imja River to reach Pangboche. We can admire good view of Everest, Lhotse an Ama Dablam on the way. We take the upper Pangboche trail towards the oldest monastery in the Khumbu - Pangboche Ghompa. We take the lower trail from Orsho along the west bank of Imja river before ascending to Dingboche later of which forms part of the approach route for the ascent of Island Peak. Dingboche is a beautiful village with beautiful barley, potato, and buckwheat fields.

It is mandatory to take another additional night in Dingboche to aid our acclimatization due to rapid altitude gain. Instead of staying idle, we will boost our acclimatization process by visiting the base of Nangkar Tshang Park. The view of Makalu is awe-inspiring.  After the acclimatization hike you can explore the village or relax in the teahouse.

Today, we climb gently to Dughla via Dusa. The surrounding terrain is dry and desolate after Dughla.  We savor the splendid sight of Taboche and Cholatse, the twin peaks, with Ama Dablam which appears as a perfect pyramid behind us.  We pass the stone memorials constructed in the memory of the departed souls of climbers and Sherpas. After a brisk hike up the gravelly terminal moraine of Khumbu glacier, we reach our destination.  Lobuche is not the most appealing rest stop but we admire the beautiful view of Nuptse, Lobuche and Pumori.

Our big day starts with our pure motive to reach our destination. We set off on a easier trek to Gorak Shep, our rest point for today. Then we hike through rugged retrain involving rocky dune and moraine all the way to Everest Base Camp (EBC). The view of Khumbu Glacier and Khumbu icefall on the slopes of Everest invigorates our journey. As we reach EBC (5,364m), we enjoy the picturesque views of Nuptse, Khumbuste, and Pumori. As the sunlight starts to wane, we will head back to Gorak Shep for our much-needed rest.

We kick off on our hike early in the morning climbing up the grassy ridge over Gorak Shep towards the highest point of our journey – Kalapatthar, undoubtedly the world’s most definitive mountain viewpoint. As we climb, the peak of Pumori looms dramatically ahead. The 360-degree panorama of Himalayan giants - Pumori and Lobuche west (6145m) to Nuptse, Lhotse and Everest dominate the sky.  Enjoy the feeling of being around proximity of the roof of the planet. After returning to Gorak Shep for breakfast, we retrace our steps along the moraine of Khumbu Glacier towards Pheriche which will take us approximately 4 hours.

We will continue our descents along Imja valley leaving the mountains behind. We also need to tackle some ascents as we approach Namche. Today is the day to reward yourself with some celebration and to upload pictures of your successful trek.

We begin our trek back to the initial spot of our walk. It is mostly a downhill trek alongside the Dudh Koshi River. We make our last long looks at the majestic mountains that we have experienced.  Right when you leave Namche Bazaar, you will begin to lose elevation relatively quickly. After that initial rapid descent, the path down becomes more gradual.  But the last portion of trail will be an uphill climb as you make your way back to Lukla to finish the Everest Base Camp route.  This is our last day on the Everest region so enjoy and celebrate the remarkable moments made along the journey.

We bid our final goodbye to the Everest and Khumbu region as we board our flight to Kathmandu or Manthali Airport.  We will reach Kathmandu for brunch if we can fly to Kathmandu. Otherwise, we retrace the way back to Kathmandu on a drive from Manthali airport. There will be plenty of time to do some shopping before our farewell dinner in the evening.

Note: A Helicopter flight can be arranged from Lukla to Kathmandu at $400 USD

per person on 5 pax basis.

Our representative will accompany you to Tribhuwan International Airport for your onward flight. If you are able to stay longer in Nepal or your international flight departs the following day, we will be happy to help you make those additional arrangements.
